Brent Williams is a music educator, trumpet instructor, and freelance brass musician who has taught private students in Bakersfield since 2012.
He serves on the music faculty at California State University, Bakersfield, and teaches instrumental music in the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District.
His sound-first approach draws on the Chicago School tradition and the Claude Gordon Systematic Approach, emphasizing sustainable musicianship and individual development.
His students have earned places in California All-State honor ensembles and regional youth symphonies and have prepared successfully for college auditions. He also adjudicates CBDA, SCSBOA, and CMEA festivals, so students prepare with someone who knows what judges listen for.

Ask about 60-minute lessonsLessons are available at the private home studio in southwest Bakersfield, with the exact address shared after booking, or online. Parents and guardians are welcome to observe home-studio lessons at any time.
Students provide their own clean, fully functional instrument and necessary accessories, such as reeds, valve oil, slide grease, and swabs. Brent provides guidance on method books, sheet music, and learning resources.
The curriculum is flexible and welcomes student-requested repertoire, songs, and musical interests. Individual practice plans are tailored to each student, with active work between lessons expected.
Lessons recur weekly. Monthly tuition is billed in advance based on the number of lessons scheduled that month and is due in full on the first of each calendar month. A $20 late fee applies if tuition is not paid within the first seven days of the month.
Cash and Zelle are accepted. Contact the studio for payment instructions. Billing notifications are administered through My Music Staff.
At least 24 hours' notice is required for student cancellations to qualify for a makeup lesson or schedule adjustment. Instructor cancellations are credited toward the following month's tuition.
Arrive promptly. A student more than 15 minutes late may forfeit the lesson without a refund or makeup credit; any grace period is at the instructor's discretion.
Stay home when ill or experiencing contagious symptoms and contact the studio in advance so alternative arrangements can be discussed.
Weekly lessons follow an academic-year structure. Winter recess, Thanksgiving week, and spring break closures are communicated in advance through My Music Staff.
Withdrawal requires at least 30 days' written notice. Tuition for the final 30-day period is nonrefundable.
My Music Staff manages studio communications, schedule reminders, lesson notes, and billing notifications. Students and parents should keep their contact details up to date in the portal.
For the safety of students and the instructor, the premises and studio common areas are monitored and recorded by a home security system. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to observe lessons.
The studio is insured through Insurance Canopy for general professional and business liability. AI meeting notes generated using Gemini to track lessons and provide summaries remain within the studio and are not disseminated to others.

Yes. Music theory tutoring and audition preparation are available. Include the subject or audition requirements and any deadline in your inquiry.
Specify online in the trial registration’s Lesson format field. Have your instrument, a device with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection ready. Confirm connection details with Brent before the lesson.
Parents and guardians are welcome to observe lessons at the home studio.
Trial lessons are refundable when canceled at least 24 hours before the lesson. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are nonrefundable.
